Brad Holloway Discipleship
Brad Holloway
Brad Holloway is a disciple maker who left teaching and coaching in the public schools of Henry County, Georgia to fulfill the Great Commission.
Since 1999, he has led and been a team member on 26 short term mission trips in 11 different countries. He has been married to his wife Gina for 37 years and they have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren
Brad’s disciple making ministry has lead him to disciple middle school, high school, and college students through FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and men in the US and over seas. His disciple making ministry has taken him to Augusta, Georgia, San Diego, California, Wales, Israel, Kenya, Mozambique, Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Brazil, and as a Church Planter in Puerto Rico. Brad meets weekly with men he is personally discipling, has trained 163 leaders in 6 churches and has 420 disciples world wide. Using the internet, he remains in touch with men in several of these countries.
Topics Brad has taught overseas and covers as he is discipling others include, How to Read the Bible for Yourself, Engaging the Culture and Defend the Christian World View, Assurance of One’s Salvation- Security of the Believer, Renewing Your Mind and Overcoming Temptation, Clarifying and Sharing the Gospel, Personal Discipleship Methods, and basic Bible Doctrine.
Brad served as a church planter in Puerto Rico with the North American Mission Board. Upon leaving Georgia for Puerto Rico, his good friend Bill Renje, who is a published author, writes for a local Henry County news paper, and works with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes www.fca.org ), was kind enough to say good-by with these words.
Bill writes;
In sports, they're called "utility players", "glue guys", "role players", versatile guys that can play wherever you need them to play and do whatever you need them to do. In ministry, they're called "servants", people that will serve wherever you need them to serve. Brad was my utility guy in FCA and student ministry in general. He ran a life changing, impact having FCA huddle at Union Grove MS. He'd speak at outreach events large and small, and he'd drive the bus to camp, and he'd lead a small group, and he'd speak to a leadership
training, and he'd raise money for the ministry, and he'd come early anywhere he was needed to help set up, and he'd stay late to clean up. No need or task was too big or small. All of this while he worked full time, raised a family, coached football & wrestling, served 24/7 at church and traveled the world on mission from South Metro Atlanta to Honduras to Brazil to Wales to Mozambique. So its with mixed emotions this weekend, that I say good bye to my friend, who, along with his beautiful wife Gina, are moving to Puerto Rico to be full time missionaries.
As a Teacher and Coach
For 15 years on the public school campus, I helped sponsor a club called FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and saw my primary responsibility there to make disciple makers. I teach the students on the leadership team the same things I’ve taught pastors and laymen around the world- how to read the Bible of yourself, how to engage the culture and defend the Christian world view, and how to make disciple makers. We have 200 students who attend our bi-monthly, school wide Huddle meetings. As great as that is, I find most of my energy and passion is spent on making disciple makers of the students on the FCA Leadership Team. I coordinate the choosing of these students with the local student pastors (each of whom I have great relationships with) from 3 closest churches nearest to the school. We are strategic and intentional in choosing the students for the FCA Leadership Team. It is my great privilege to disciple these students on the public school campus.
The discipleship process (2 Timothy 2:2) is accomplished through our bi-monthly school wide Huddle meetings too. To do this, I bring in high school and college guys I have personally discipled and girls whom I have taken over seas on short term mission trips. So what we have is students on the public school campus who were on my middle school FCA Leadership Team, went to high school, were in my Life Group at church on Sunday mornings, went over seas with me, went to college, and are now returning to lead worship, games, and devotions for me in my public school.
Additionally, I have a group of high school and college students who come to my house on Saturday mornings. I cook them pancakes and we walk through some discipleship material together. As these guys grow, they come to my FCA meetings to speak. My intent in all this is not just make disciples or followers of Christ, but to make disciples who will make other disciples; always casting a vision for taking what has been given to you, and pouring that into others- 2 Timothy 2:2 “The things you have heard and seen in me teach to faithful men who in turn will teach others.”
